High School Students Take Action to Rescue Trees in the Bronx

environment 2Students for Service partnered with Natural Area Volunteers (NAVigators) to rescue trees, aid air quality, and protect the watershed by removing invasive species from a Bronx park. The removal of invasive species is important for maintaining a healthy urban forest because weeds and other invasive species (plants, which are not indigenous to an ecosystem) will utilize all available soil and kill the trees that are native to the environment.  Students for Service sends a big thanks to our student volunteers and the NAVIgators team for allowing us to join them in this important environment service projects at Pelham Bay in the Bronx.
