Urban Agriculture

Turn NYC green with Students for Service! Developing agricultural capacity in New York City is beneficial for our community. It reduces food transportation costs and negative environmental impacts, provides economic development opportunities, and, most importantly, improves access to healthy food choices by providing fresh and affordable produce in disadvantaged, “food-desert” communities. We work with local nonprofit organizations and community activists to build and maintain community gardens and promote community-supported agriculture.
