Community Service Experience

If applicable, please describe or list any past service projects or events you have participated in.

Brief Personal Statement

Please tell us why you want to participate in the Teens for Food Justice program and what you hope to gain from this experience (maximum 200 words).

Teacher Recommendation

There is both high demand for and limited space in our program. It is essential that all volunteer team members be fully committed to serving with us for the entire year. Therefore, we ask that you provide a recommendation. Please send this brief recommendation form to a teacher or an advisor to submit on your behalf.

If you have any questions or are having trouble securing a recommendation, feel free to e-mail our program manager, Rosa, at raciaglo@studentsforservice.org and we’ll work on an alternative.

Declaration of Commitment

The biggest benefit of this volunteer program is the opportunity it gives you to build a long-term relationship with your fellow volunteers and the community you serve. You benefit not only from your role as a volunteer, but from the concrete educational component of this program, such as lessons in sustainability, urban farming, leadership training and professional development throughout the year.

We ask therefore that you commit to a full year of monthly service with our volunteer team. We do understand that some missed days will be inevitable. Our first three service days are October 18th, November 22nd and December 13th, and consecutive service days will follow once a month until June, with exact dates TBA. All major service days take place on Saturdays, from 9:30 – 3.

Please check below to submit your application: I am applying to be a Teen for Food Justice with the intention of, to the best of my ability, committing to serve with the team one Saturday a month between October, 2014 and June, 2015.
