Teens Make Living Healthy Fun at Carnival in East Harlem

Students for Service volunteers made healthy eating and lifestyles fun for kids in the East Harlem GOAL program at a teen-run carnival on Saturday, January 12, 2013. This fun and educational event included activities such as leading the young children in dance and exercise and then teaching them to measure their heart rates, contests to identify the organs of the body and their functions, tastings to compare healthy and junk foods, and a race to fill The Food Plate. The event, where teens learned while they taught, was capped by a shared healthy lunch followed by sports and games.
